Confidence Reflects Your Identity
Life happens. It's inevitable.
I worked over past five years - pouring in effort, dedication and hope. But in the end, I was downsized by my company. Just a setback, right? That's what people say. But do they understand the emotional impact?
Disappointments. Frustration. Desperation. A deep sense of loss.
And shame - the kind that whispers, " Why me? Why was I the one who got downsized?"
That question kept playing in my mind, giving me headaches, Was it all waste?
It felt humiliating. People talked, and I deflated.
In that moment, all I wanted was a quiet place to hide and cry out loud.
The Spiral After the Fall
In the days that followed, I tried to regain my confidence and apply for new jobs.
Rejection hit me again.. Anger and desperation flooded in.
I felt like I was falling into madness. My mood worsened, effecting my daily life - especially my relationships.
It seemed like nothing was working anymore.
The Turning Point
After a few days of silence - even from my closest friends - I realized something :
I was wrong.
I needed to fix this. I had to get out of this spiral before it got worse.
I felt like I was destroying myself. So, I asked, "What can I learn from this?"
How I Started Rebuilding My Confidence
I began with self-reflection and acceptance.
I stood in front of the mirror and spoke to myself:
"I love myself no matter, I won't give up, I'll figure out a way to make this work."
I practiced self-affirmation and self-gratitude. I wrote in my journal every day - especially after yoga.
I learned to own the setback without blaming myself.
Then I set micro-goals:
- Read self-improvement books for 30 minutes a day
- Practice speaking skills daily
- Do Pilates to reconnect with my body
It wasn't easy. I faced setbacks during my recovery.
I felt overwhelmed, fatigue, stress - sometimes burnout.
So I gave myself permission to pause.
I'd binge Chinese dramas, recharge, and then return to my routines.
That's how I learned to celebrate tiny wins to reinforce progress.
To stay on track, I kept a journal.
Every night before bed, I'd reflect and plan my to-do list for tomorrow.
By morning, my brain was already reprogrammed. I didn't waste time wondering what to do - I just started.
